Parent Association

The Ben Franklin High School Parents’ Association is dedicated to the continued success of our students by providing funding for a wide range of activities during the school year.

Mission Statement
How to Get Involved at BFHS

PA Standing Committee Chairs & BFHS Staff Contact:

 

Grade Level Representatives  (Administrative Liaison - Tina Shariff, Manager of Student Data, Testing & Communications)          

Responsible for communication between the school and the parents of the students for the relevant grade.  All Grade Level Representatives will participate in the fundraising activities and in the coordination of volunteers for the grade which he/she represents.

 

Communications/Social Media (Administrative Liaison - Tina Shariff, Manager of Student Data, Testing & Communications )  

Works in cooperation with the school to update Parent Association information on the website.  Monitors the PA Facebook page and communicates as needed through this channel.

 

Faculty/Staff Appreciation Events  (Administrative Liaison -  Christy Cowart Read ’89, Director of Development )   

Coordinates with the Business Office to create a budget, and order/prepare/serve food for faculty and staff in December and May.  Recruits volunteers to assist in executing hospitality at events.    

 

International Festival Chair  (Administrative Liaison - John Parauka, Coordinator of Student & Alumni Services)

Works in collaboration with the International Festival Committee and Development & Business Offices to plan, recruit volunteers for, and execute the festival (late spring).     

 

Parents Annual Giving (PAG)  (Administrative Liaison - Christy Cowart Read ’89, Director of Development)       

Assists the Director of Development in generating financial support for the school by contacting families to ask for their participation in the campaign.

 

Special Events  (Administrative Liaison - John Parauka, Coordinator of Student & Alumni Services)

Coordinates with the Business Office to create budget, and order/prepare/serve food for school community events.  Recruits volunteers to assist in executing hospitality at events:

 

  • Admissions Open House (October 5, 2017) – Assist with greeting families of prospective students at evening open house.

  • College Night (September 18, 2017) – Plans hospitality for college representatives and assists in set up. 

  • Chaperone Dances – Assist as a chaperone at various school dances throughout the year.

  • Franklin Welcome Night (April 12, 2018) – Assist with registration for new students in the spring.

  • Meet the Teachers Night (August 17, 2017) – Arrange for food and refreshments and staff the cafeteria throughout the night.

  • Honor Roll Breakfasts (once a semester) – Assist in serving students breakfast.

  • 60th Anniversary Task Force (January 17, 2018) –  Brainstorm with committee to plan and execute events for the 60th anniversary of the school.
