Dear Franklin family,

 

We are thrilled to have so many people interested in getting together to share our thoughts and ideas about Franklin’s reopening!  Thank you for your commitment to ensuring a safe and equitable start to our school year.

 

Please click on this Zoom link (passcode 593447) to join our town hall on Thursday, July 23 at 5 p.m.  If Zoom doesn’t work for you, please click here www.bfhsla.org/townhall  to follow the event on YouTube. Comments posted to our live-stream will be periodically relayed back to the town hall. For translation service in Spanish, please call (518) 418-1504, and  for Vietnamese, please call (669) 275-0527. 

 

The format for the event, because of the large number of participants, will be a webinar.  This means you’ll be muted as a default and you’ll see the panelists and speakers who are called on during periods for questions and feedback, but no one will see you or hear you unless you’ve requested to be called on.  The norms presented here explain how the general flow of the meeting works.  If you have questions, please reply to this message before the town hall. 

 

•  We are committed to the principles of language justice. Remember, simultaneous interpreting will be happening. We ask that speakers use headphones whenever possible to prevent poor audio and to speak clearly and at a moderate natural pace.

• Feel free to use the Q&A feature when you see fit. Questions in the chat will be periodically addressed during the feedback portion verbally, but can also be answered in writing in the Q&A feature.

• During the feedback time, our host can unmute your mic if you “raise your hand” or would like to elaborate when using the Q&A feature. Please be patient with us, it is challenging using a virtual platform to get to all questions voiced but we will do our best.

• When speaking, begin with your name, position, for example: “Erika Otero, teacher, __” and keep your time to 2 min. The facilitator will give you a 30 sec. time warning.

• Lastly, let’s be cordial & empathetic. This pandemic is extremely high stakes for some members of our community.  We all share one common goal: to ensure the safest learning environment for our students and staff. In addition, our hope is that the work we do on Thursday incites further conversations and coordinated action.
