Transportation

Franklin is a city-wide charter school – and thus has the expected congestion of cars and buses during normal pick-up and drop-off times.  There are a number of transportation options available to families who cannot, or do not wish to, drive on a daily basis.  RTA, private bus co-ops, and carpool options exist to help families navigate the daily drop-off and pick-up involved with a city-wide charter school.

Drop-Off/ Pick-Up

Students can be dropped off at the front of the school. Follow Leon C. Simon Drive, and enter at the first entrance of the parking lot. There are two lanes for parent use. Please be cautious as you exit, as the lanes merge into one. Additionally, be cautious as you exit the parking lot into oncoming traffic on Leon C. Simon Drive.  The busiest times for drop off are 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m., so budget some extra time to avoid the traffic.

Students also can be dropped off in the parking lot on St. Anthony Street. Follow the arrows to the second entrance in the gymnasium parking lot, and pull up as far as possible next to Falcon Field to drop off your students. Please exit at the end of the parking lot and turn left to exit the campus back toward Leon C. Simon.

Student drivers will park in the UNO Human Performance Center parking lot near Elysian Fields or in the International Center lot. See the map below. Students who drive themselves must buy a parking pass from the security desk for $20. Students may not park in the faculty lot.

Public Transportation

All students at BFHS are provided the opportunity to use public transportation through the Regional Transit Authority, or RTA.  We currently have a supply of tokens that we will use while transitioning to the Youth Jazzy Passes.  The rider MUST live a mile or more from BFHS in order to use this free service.

Parents can request tokens by completing the BFHS Application for RTA Transportation Ecollect form in the parent PowerSchool portal.

  • Log in to the main BFHS PowerSchool portal (this will not be accessible in the app)

  • Choose "Forms" from the left-hand menu

  • Click "BFHS Application for RTA Transportation"

  • Provide your electronic signature and choice of RTA token needs

Private Bus Initiatives

In several parts of the city, parents have coordinated to offer private bus services for Franklin students.  These cooperative efforts are organized and managed by parents.
