If you qualify, choose us as your NOLA Public School, and meet enrollment deadlines, you will be offered a placement at Benjamin Franklin High School.

Admissions portal for test registration opens: Wed., Oct. 1, 2025
Last day for "on-time" test registration: Monday, Jan. 5, 2026
Test registrations may be accepted after Jan. 5, but there will be no retest opportunity
Test Dates:
Admissions testing is confirmed once the test registration is verified.
All tests are at Franklin on specific Saturdays at 8 a.m.

MEET OUR ACADEMIC CRITERIA
Admissions Test
All applicants must take the admissions test. View our Admissions Calendar for testing dates and our Admissions Policy for more information concerning testing. All students will be scheduled to take the admissions test at Franklin upon verification of the applicant's birth certificate and residency documents.
Grades
Students must have earned a minimum 2.0 GPA in academic courses, with no failing grades, as documented by the mid-year report card. They must maintain that GPA for the duration of the school year after admittance, and it must be confirmed by year-end report card. Students can have no failing grades in any subject for the most recent academic year and/or previously completed grade level. As part of the admissions process, all high school-level coursework and official transcripts will be reviewed. Students must not have any failing grades in high school–credited courses to be considered eligible for admission.
Criteria for Acceptance
1) Proven Residency in Orleans Parish.
2) Admissions Matrix Points minimum: 88 matrix points for 8th graders; 98 points for 9th graders; or 108 points for 10th graders earned from a combination of your admissions test scores and your grades. For more information, please reference our Admissions Matrix.
3) Promotion by the current school to next grade level with no failing grades in academic subjects and a minimum 2.0 GPA in academic courses. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have no failing grades in any subject for the most recent academic year and/or previously completed grade level. As part of the admissions process, all high school-level coursework and official transcripts will be reviewed. Students must not have any failing grades in high school–credited courses to be considered eligible for admission.

LIVE IN ORLEANS PARISH
Your child must live in Orleans Parish in order to attend Benjamin Franklin High School. The school cannot admit any student not residing in Orleans Parish, regardless of circumstance.
Residency in Orleans Parish must be proven with 2 of the following residency documents:

Homeowners or flood insurance

Homestead Exemption form

Lease or mortgage information

Payroll check stub with home address

Students must maintain Orleans Parish residency throughout their tenure at the school. Otherwise, they will be required to withdraw.
