The Resilience Through Character Award was established by Tanya Jones and Bill Jones in loving memory of their son, William C. Jones V. Tanya served as Benjamin Franklin High School’s School Social Worker from 2005–2012. Together Tanya and Bill are proud members of the Franklin community and parents of Franklin graduates.
This award honors a student who exemplifies extraordinary character and resilience in the face of personal, family, physical, or life challenges. Whether navigating adversity at home, overcoming health or mental wellness struggles, or persevering through difficult circumstances, the recipient demonstrates integrity, honesty, and a spirit that uplifts others.
Resilience Through Character is not about perfection—it is about perseverance. This award recognizes a student who has grown through hardship, maintained strong values, and continued to imagine a future that is bigger and brighter than the obstacles before them. It celebrates the quiet strength, courage, and moral character that define true leadership.
Through this award, the Jones family hopes to encourage Franklin students—especially those transitioning into the next chapter of their lives—to face challenges with determination while keeping their character intact.
